I grew up in an artistic family and while I was in high school I was drawn to theater stage and costume design. I worked for an opera company and began to think about pursuing a career in theater or film. A brief exposure to a course on the history of 19th and early 20th century architecture pointed me towards building design.
After 7 years of education in the heart of NYC, I worked for 5 years there, focusing on developer and interior designer driven luxury residential projects. When I became a mother, I opened my own office in St. Michaels and have been working independently since 2016. Now with three children, my husband and I own The Blue Crab Lodge short term rental and The Blue Crab coffee shop in St. Michaels and you will find me helping out there sometimes, too.
The most important part of design is answering the needs of the client. I will work to ensure your priorities are met first and foremost. The design will be done efficiently, while prioritizing the elements that make us feel the most human: natural light, air and materials.
“Architecture has its own realm. It has a special physical relationship with life. I do not think of it primarily as either a message or a symbol, but as an envelope and background for life which goes on in and around it, a sensitive container for the rhythm of footsteps on the floor, for the concentration of work, for the silence of sleep.” -Peter Zumthor
I would love to meet to see your spaces and ideas.
